What is ‘Hiyoko Manju’?
Hiyoko manju is not a new thing. It is from the Fukuoka Prefecture of Japan and has a long history in Japan . The original hiyjoko manju recipe is more than 100 years old.
Hiykoko means “chick”. Hiyoko manju can be translated as “baby chick sweet bun”. Fukuoka has been always a creative place in Japan and they make this adorable sweet pastry for over a century.
Ingredients:
Dough:
- 3/4 cups sweetened condensed milk
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Filling:
- 1 can of sweetened red bean paste
