This year’s winner is for the Adorable Superhero Award goes to Hello Kitty / Wonder Woman from Japan.
The marketing of the new superhero movie of DC Comics is completely different. Hello Kitty is now helping Wonder Woman to conquer the Japanese market.
This is the first time that the Hello Kitty brand has partnered with a foreign movie. Although it has already helped with domestic productions (Ring). Hello Kitty’s proprietary company Sanrio has also designed a new look for the kawaii kitten: a red-blue-gold costume, knee-high boots, a tiara, and a Truth Lasso accessory.
Now Hello Kitty looks like Wonder Woman. You can also discover the kawaii sweetness and innocence in the new version of the Wonder Woman, just like in Hello Kitty. It is not a coincidence that she is so much popular across Japan.
You should not underestimate the power of the kawaii Wonder Woman’s marketing. The movie was only played in Japan, but anyone who pre-purchased a ticket received a Wonder Woman x Hello Kitty Keychain or the first limited edition reprint of the 1941 Wonder Woman comic book.
Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman, considers herself a huge Hello Kitty fan and she is proud of the partnership with Sanrio.
Did you see the movie? How did you like it? Please feel free to share your opinion about Wonder Woman x Hello Kitty aka. DC Comics x Sanrio Collaboration.
